School start

It's been one month that school started, and there is a strong difference with my old Hong Kong university.

Mathematics play a very important role in our curriculum. Whether it is on the management or on computer science part, we have very intense courses of mathematics (linear programming, statistics and math revisions).

Another important point to notice is that we cannot choose any course. They are all compulsory, so on one hand they are adapted and optimized for our major. But on the other hand, we cannot differentiate ourselves by taking different courses from the other students.

Well, finally I am looking forward to the next year, when deeper computer science courses will have taken on mathematic courses. But I keep on thinking their methods of working are the best ones someone could hope for. They impose us correctiveness and rigor by forcing us to write algorithms with paper and pen, and to prove them using mathematics (something I never thought possible).

Here is a photo of the entrance of Montpellier 2 where my school is.
